Finished some Fingerless gloves but CANNOT figure out the damn KNUCKS!

Okay so here's my problem. I can knit fairly well for a self-taught knitter. I even pride myself on being able to look at a knitted item and can discern the pattern, but damn if I can't figure out how to add the thumb gusset to the knuck pattern. I did the knitting from the top down bit with all 4 fingers, but once I got to the thumb gusset I just could not understand the pattern. Every which way I attempted to add the pre-knit thumb was wrong. I looked to youtube and knittinghelp vids but nothing was close enough to the knucks. So, NOW I am trying to knit the knucks patterns from the bottom up. I know that the thumb gusset will come out okay but I wonder how the finger holes will. STAY TUNED....

MOVING TO MASSACHUSETTS

I am very happy to report that after 5 1/2 year we are moving out of Texas. Although this was a good move for us in terms of getting us away from the dependency of our families and having a life together, it has been a struggle. Tree hasn't enjoyed his program here, I hate my job. The only really good thing was that we grew our little family with 4 baby cats. All that aside, we are now Massachusetts bound and I couldn't be happier not only for the change of scenery but also because now my knitting will actually be useful. Its been a hard five years developing as a knitter in a climate that does not allow me to wear my knits but a few days a year.

I have been a knitting fool lately trying to make sure Tree and I are well stocked for the move. We will be moving, unfortunately, right in the dead of a New England winter. That will be challenging. We have never lived in cold like that before and it will have its ups and downs but just the physical act moving in that snow will be rough. Either way, I get to rock my recent knits that I have only been able to stare at for the last year. Its been awhile since I have posted so let me update some pics. I am sure my knit blogging will pick up again here soon on account I will be unemployed in Mass at first. The down side of a move across state lines is that it is hard for both of us to get a job before we get there. At least Tree will start his career as a teacher.

Forgive the color quality of some of these pics most were taken before I upgraded to iPhone 4. I don't know why I stopped taking pics with my actual camera.

LL's Irish Hiking Scarf - http://www.helloyarn.com/irishhikingcarf.htm
An experiment I never finished and now can't find in my messy house.

I am calling this one Mermaid Scarf because of the colors (color is bad in this pic) but it is based off of Blue Cables Scarf - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/blue-cabled-scarf

Bella's Mittens (only finished one cause my hands felt claustrophobic) -http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bellas-mittens

A hat I made based off of the Bella's Mitten Pattern. So, I don't have a link to post.

Another Straun except with ear flaps and not a brim, but I obviously made it too small so I have to frog and start over. =( http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/struan
You can see the Mermaid Scarf's color better here. I got to wear both my Bella Hat and Mermaid Scarf on my trip to Mass to find a house.

How to Tie a Scarf
I have recently been watching all of the seasons of 30 Rock on Netflix on my Blueray and I noticed that Liz Lemon has quite a collection of scarves. AND unlike most things that we knitters geek out on and try to recreate via knitting (like Twilight scarves & Star Wars knits) I never see blogs or posts on Ravelry for any Liz Lemon scarves. I even went searching a bit ago and that is how I discovered this "How to Tie a Scarf" pic, I figured I would share.

My tendinitis is killing me so I am gonna keep this short. But now I really want to knit a Liz Lemon scarf. NERDS!

 Boba Fett Mythosaur Hat

Over the spring of 2009 I made this hat for Tristan because he loves Boba Fett so much but didn't blog about it. It was the first time I ever knitted with size 1 needles and one of the first few times I ever really did Intarsia. I can't even find the final pic of it. But here it is, my first messy attempt of Intarsia with the Mythosaur emblem.

Has anyone else's blogs started to get a bunch of spam comments lately?

THIS IS NOT KNITTING RELATED

I just got this Rising Sun vinyl decal set for my Wii. I now have the coolest Wii on the planet.

Seriously!??!?!?!?! Is that not super awesome? I just love rep'n for my Nihonjin's in the world.

For Xmas I decided to try to create my own Fair Isle pattern skulls on leg warmers for a friend. I based the leg warmer pattern, loosely on one from a holiday knitting book that is not near me at the moment and I am too lazy to walk over to it to get the name. I link that later.

Anywho, it turned out to be a lot harder than I expected and turned into a mid-January gift, rather that a Xmas gift.

Here is the end result, I am very proud of this project even though there were times I wanted to light them on fire from froggin' frustration. THAT and having to look at pink everyday for a couple months. I am just NOT into pink. But having finished these I must admit, hot pink and black look pretty cool together.

I also just finished my first attempt at the Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf
by Karen Baumer. I really love this pattern. I just worked it with some scrap yarn, so I ran out before I had a really decent length scarf, (this one is approximately 50") but I still like how it turned out. I'll be making more for sure.

Last set of pics for this post is a little hat I made from scrap yarn for myself, the Waffle Hat

That's it for me tonight. I am sleepy.

WOW! I can't believe it has almost been a year since my last post. Sadly, Facebook has become my daily post place. I do have some projects to post but since August I don't knit as much as I would like because I have tendinitis and it really gets in the way of my knitting.

I have been trying to find new crafts to occupy my time but I can't help loving knitting the way I do. I have taken a couple of sewing classes and made a few pairs of PJ pants for my hub and me. Its fun but doesn't have that same KNITTING AWESOMENESS feel to it. So, I still knit, and after a while it hurts and I have to wear my brace for days on end. Sux.

Spiderman PJs in class for charity/ Reversible bag first project in class/ Tristan's PJ pants 1st attempt from home.

Anywho, I will try to get some pictures of the knitting projects I have completed since last March. Goodness! I used to blog ever day, now its like once a year? Crazy.
